Today is the day the the military ban on gays, lesbians and bisexuals serving finally ends.After 17 years of a policy where gays could serve as long as they were in the closet and didn't get found out, today gay soldiers can finally acknowledge who they fully are. They can display photos of their partners on their desks and they can speak openly about their relationships and personal lives.
This is all good news and certainly something to celebrate. But gay and lesbians soldiers are still not treated equally. Here are some of the ways which, despite the repeal of DADT, gay and lesbian soldiers are not treated the same as heterosexual soldiers.
