But I'm A Cheerleader is a cute movie that shows the simplicity of same-sex love, and proof that you can't change who you are.
"I go to church, I get good greats, I'm a Cheerleader!" If you've ever heard this line (ok, so it's not the most popular one) you can probably understand how silly this logic is. Lesbians, Gays, Transgenders, Bisexuals, they come in all shapes and sizes. There is no qualification for being gay (other than the obvious sexual attraction one). Just because someone may dress and act like one doesn't mean that they are or aren't. This movie I believe is a great example.
I really liked "But I'm A Cheerleader". I think it's one of the cutest movies I've ever seen. Natasha Lyonne is the main charter of this movie. You might have seen her in other films like "American Pie" and "If These Walls Could Talk Two". She's usually that sarcastic cute blonde who doesn't take crap from anyone else...in her own naive kinda way. Along with other stars such as Clea DuVall (Girl Interrupted and Identity), Melanie Lynskey (seen in some of the later episodes co star of Leisha Hailey's(Alice) in L-Word) and RuPaul (does he need an explanation); this cute late ninety's film I think plays on so many things.
The stereotypes of what a Lesbian looks and acts like and the purity of same-sex love.
It's Sweet. It's Funny. It's Romantic. It's A Movie worth Watching, even buying. With characters you'll fall in love with, this movie is overall cute and light-hearted. Grab your sweetie, or possible sweetie and settle down with some popcorn. This movie will definitely make you fall in love with being yourself all over again.
------------------ POSSIBLE SPOILER -------- The movie starts off introducing a good Christian girl. At least so she believes. Then with a bogus intervention, is dropped off at a "True Direction" Ex-Gay camp. This camp is designed to put young girls and boys back on the "path to righteousness". What ends up happening at the end is classic romantic, but in this case, very fitting for this movie
