National LGBT Rights Leader Addresses D.C. Protest Demanding Health Insurance Reform

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund Executive Director Rea Carey is among the progressive leaders speaking at today's large protest outside the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Washington, D.C., where America's Health Insurance Plans - the health insurance lobbying group - is holding its annual policy conference.

N.Y. tries to cater towards LGBT market, in hopes of bringing in big buck

Developers will open the first gay boutique hotel in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen, hoping to cash in on a growing trend towards gay-oriented tourism. Ian Reiser and partner, Mati Weiderpass, both of Parkview Developers, plan a $20 million facelift for an old hotel, creating a 123-room hotel called The Out NYC, along with a spa, restaurant, cafe and shops. The hotel will also house a 10,000-square-foot, 750-guest night club. The partners no doubt want to ride the rising wave of gay and lesbian tourism in New York City.

Santa Rosa open retirement home for Gay and Lesbian

Santa Rosa's Planning Commission Thursday, February 11th,  approved the first-ever gay and lesbian retirement community proposed in Sonoma County, a once controversial project that won neighborhood acceptance after it was scaled back in size.

“This has been a long, arduous process but this is a better match with the neighborhood,” said Commissioner Patti Cisco, who joined other commissioners in praising Aegis Senior Living for reducing the size of the 148-unit community care Fountaingrove Lodge facility to 109 units. Twelve of the units would be for employee housing.

Let's Challenge that Santity of Marriage shall we?

Kitty Lambert and her partner, Cheryle Rudd, tried to apply for a marriage license in Buffalo, N.Y., on Wednesday. When their application was rejected, Lambert asked for a random man from the nearly 20 people gathered in the city clerk’s office. She and a male stranger less than half her age were issued the marriage license.
