I can't be the man you wish you could see
I wouldn't dream to even try and fill his spot
I can't fathom replacing everything that he did
I can; however, offer this one thought

I know your heart is taped together
and you feel that some pieces are missing
but you've made me feel better than I have in a while
so if you'll accept it, this is what I'm giving

I can offer hugs and kisses in exchange
for every ounce of your trials and pains
and though I can't be there just yet
my ears you have to listen at best
my words you have for you to feel comfort
which will have to do till I can wrap my arms around you
my heart goes out to your trying days
until my lips can kiss the blues away
my laughter is yours till all hours of the night
I have much respect for you, believe I'll treat you right
I can't prove that there's someone else out there that can love you just the same
but I can be the one to help send the unworthy ones away
I can spoil you with every bit that I have
attention, affection, venting - I'm your man
i know you're beautiful inside and out
and I'll be the one to confirm it everytime you start to doubt
Every tear -  I'll chase away
every frown  - I'll turn around
every dream -  I'm by your side
every moment you need me - I'll be there
and I can't promise I'll be everything to you
but I can promise that anything I can for you I'll do
....

I can't mend your broken heart
but I can do my best to protect you as it starts
to heal itself and become strong again
