You wake up in the morning and think of her
I wake up in the morning and think of you

you wait excitedly every night by the phone for her call
as I sit there wishing it was me your heart is set on

you smile and your heart lights up when you hear her voice
while mine aches just to hear your name

Oh I wish, I wish, I'd give anything
just to have you give me the same....

You dedicate songs and write poems to her
My mind only writes thoughts of you

You cry to your friends about missing her so
as I wait patiently by just for you to open your eyes

and just see me
the way you see her

Oh I wish, I wish, I'd give anything
to just for one day steal your attention away

You dream about the day you'll be by her side

and it helps me to learn to let go.

You tell how you'd be with her day and night

and I wish I had a girl like you so.

I sit and ponder when you'll come along for me
as you ponder and wait for her

guess maybe we're both just to blind to see
the truth that is made for each other.

I know that to ever look into your eyes
would make me break down and confess
so to keep my distance as you write and try
would be my better bet.

Oh I wish, I wish, I'd give anything
to have you want to be with me yet.
