An eight year old who shyly challenged a Republican presidential candidate’s stance on homosexuals said he was not forced to do so.

Elijah Cromer of Myrtle Beach and his mother, Lora Talbot, say the 8 year old was not forced or coached when he approached Rep. Michele Bachmann at a book signing in Myrtle Beach on Sunday, whispering to the congresswoman “My mom is gay, but she doesn’t need any fixing.”

The parents of the boy promised that he wasn't coached to say this. Elijah grew up in an unconventional type home. A lesbian mother and a transgendered father. Although he realized he has more of an alternative family he knew his family wasn't broken. According to his mother, when Elijah saw Michele Bachmann on the bus from her book tour he wanted to say something to her.

So the mother agreed to take him the the book signing.

Quiet and shy Elijah kept his word by whispering "My mommy is gay but she doesn't need fixing" in the ear of conservative christian Rep. Michele Bachmann. Shocked, Michele smiled and told the boy to have a nice day.

Days later, Michele expressed that she doesn't hate anyone, but rather she feels that marriage should be between a man and woman. That this stance was "morally right". She mentions that she finds it disappointing that one would use an 8yr old to further an agenda.

Below are the videos - do you think he was coached? What do you feel about Michele's response?
