The colours of the rainbow have been raised above Sydney's Town Hall to celebrate the start of 2010 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival.
The red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet striped `gay' flag is regularly displayed along Oxford Street in Darlinghurst during Mardi Gras celebrations, but was for the first time hoisted above Town Hall on Friday.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the flag symbolised Sydney's unwavering support for gay and lesbian communities.
